Onwards from there to Barra for the Feis, and then Aberdeen for the North Atlantic Fiddle Convention. Can’t believe it’s 4 years since the last one. Time flies. I’ve got a few gigs with Maeve MacKinnon and Ewan MacPherson at the end of July, then it’s into August and the Edinburgh Fringe. Keep an eye on dates on the gigs page.

I have been busy with a few different projects lately. Lots of rehearsing and excting sounds happening.

The new band Mackinnon/MacColl/MacPherson (yes we will get a better name soon) launched at Celtic Connections are we’re out on the road from June finishing up with a tour of Austria in September. Looking forward to that one!

Before then, I’m going on tour with Fribo, covering for their fiddle player, the lovely Sarah-Jane Summers. The band are touring as part of the Nottingham and Lincolnshire Ruring Touring Scheme. For more info go to www.fribo.co.uk

I am very delighted to say that I won the category ‘Instrumentalist of the Year’ at the recent MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards 2009, at a glittering ceremony in Dumfries. It was a huge shock. I was delighted my parents and closest friends could be there to celebrate the occasion, and of course am very thankful to everyone who voted for me. Many thanks to Simon Thoumire for tirelessly working on behalf of so many musicians to get scotland’s music further into the public and media spotlight. His work is vital!

They produce a FREE downloadable album available online for 3 months. A compilation of a broad range of largely acoustic music.
‘Oighfear A’ Chuil Duinn’, the opening track from Strewn with Ribbons was chosen to appear on the compilation called ‘ALL’. It is available, with loevly artwork, until the end of January.
